Winner of Park in Bloom Announced
An added attraction of residential park home developments is that their owners often create colourful communal areas for the enjoyment of residents. These areas might include communal gardens, colourful gated entrances and site offices, picnic or BBQ patio areas and even ponds or water features.
That’s why park home specialists Quickmove Properties have been running a Park in Bloom competition, sponsored by Towergate Insurance, recognizing residential developments with the most colourful and creative communal spaces.
Entries included some beautifully-landscaped areas but this year’s winner of the trophy and £200 shopping vouchers is Shepherds Grove park by Berkeleyparks in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Surrounded by greenery, the park is an established community of 300 homes, nestled within the countryside. They submitted a wonderful boat-themed flower display which wowed the judges with its creativity and colour. The re-purposed dinghy is named “John Berkley” in honour of the founder of Berkeleyparks.
Stuart from Quickmove Properties commented: “We loved the stunning nautical entry that Shepherd Grove Park submitted. Their boat display proves you can do a lot with limited space.
The overall landscaping of the park also creates a welcoming atmosphere with impressive, well-tended baskets and tubs.
Well done to all the entries, proving that a spash of colour and dash of creativity can bring a plain park space to life!
Park in Bloom: Highly Commended Parks
The panel were impressed by the standard of entries this year and would like to highlight two other highly commended parks in bloom.
HIGHLY COMMENDED: Dales View Park
A lovely seating area has been made at this hill top park. Various colourful container plants are displayed between the benches and bird boxes, helping create a welcoming environment for both residents and birdlife. The park is maintained by Bryan, the park head groundsman who has been at the park for 7 years. All the plants have been grown by himself, from cutting or seed.
HIGHLY COMMENDED: Alderlee Park
This communal park area features Indian sandstone work to create the large patio, surrounded by a wall of well-groomed plants and shrubs. The volume of greenery creates an impressive border and adds privacy to the communal space. Residents use the space throughout the year for parties, events or as a quiet and tranquil area to sit and enjoy summer evenings.

2024’s park entries were judged by an online park home industry panel.
